A ship, excluding a military ship, is a vessel qualified for sea navigation and which is more than 24 metres long.
Ships are entered in the following registers:
- trade ships register,
- yacht register,
- fishing ships register,
- public ships register,
- register of ships in construction,
- military ships register.
A ship that is constructed in a Slovenian ship yard can be entered in the register upon the request of the ship owner.
A ship must have an appropriate number of crew members (mariners). Members of the crew have obtained the appropriate title and have appropriate authorisation to perform the work under their title on the ship.
