Waste collection is part of waste management and encompasses the collection of waste including their preliminary categorisation and storage, for the purpose of transport to the waste processing plant. Hazardous and non-hazardous waste is collected.
Hazardous waste is waste that shows one or several dangerous features under Appendix III of the Commission Regulation (EU) no. 1357/2014.
Non-hazardous waste is waste that is not categorised as hazardous waste. Different types of waste (paper, metal, plastic and glass) are collected separately. Separate collection is collection where waste is separated with consideration of the type and nature of waste so that individual type of waste processing is simplified.
Waste collection is performed by a legal or natural entity or collector who is entered in the register of waste collectors. Waste collector must keep records and have a record sheet on waste collection. Waste must be categorised in the classification list, appropriately packed and labelled. Waste collector is obliged to prepare a waste collection report.
