Obtaining confirmation on the registration of a residence
Confirmation on the registration of a residence can be obtained by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Complete the form for obtaining confirmation on registration of residence.
Complete the application form.
- a copy of the applicants personal identification document or passport
- evidence of the applicants activities in the Republic of Slovenia (employment contract, work contract etc.)
Step 2: Submit the completed form to the administrative unit.
Send the application and attachments to the nearest administrative unit responsible for the applicants area of temporary residence. The form can also be sent in person or by proxy.
Step 3: Obtain confirmation of registration of residence in person from the administrative unit.
The confirmation of registration of residence (card) may be obtained only in person or by a proxy from the same administrative unit to which the application form was submitted.
The confirmation of registration of residence is valid for 5 years.
Step 4: Obtain confirmation of the registration of temporary residence
When confirmation of registration of residence has been received, the applicant is obliged to register a temporary residence address at the administrative unit within three days of the receipt of the document. The registration can be made through the owner of the property where they reside, or by submitting a lease contract.
The confirmation of the registration of temporary residence is valid for one year; it can be renewed each year before the applicants confirmation of registration of residence expires.
The permanent residence permit can be obtained only if the applicant is a citizen of the EU or if they have resided in Slovenia for five years. This can be proven by confirmation of registration of residence. Until the applicant registers as a permanent resident, they will be registered as permanently resident in their own country.
