Wine and wine product taster

A taster for the organoleptic evaluation of must, wine, and other products carries out their professional evaluation of the properties of wine and wine products using special sensory evaluation methods. The evaluation is carried out with the purpose of ensuring the suitability of products for sale.

A taster is an individual who must be at least 18 years old and younger than 70. In the event that the taster is older than 70, they may still do the work of a taster, provided that they successfully pass a test of their organoleptic skills with an authorised organisation every year.

A taster must have a suitable education level and must complete various types of professional training.

A taster is not the same as sommelier. A sommelier deals with serving wine and proper wine and food pairing, while a taster evaluates wine with the purpose of verifying the suitability of the properties for its consumption.
