National permit (authorisation)

A national permit is an administrative act, used by the member country's competitive authority to permit the availability in the market and the use of a biocidal product or a family of biocidal products on its territory or part of its territory.

The application must be lodged via the application of the European Chemicals Agency. The IUCLID 5 information tool is used for the preparation of applications.

For the issue of the permit, the biocidal product must fulfil the conditions with regard to the accessibility of the biocidal product, have appropriate features, be appropriately labelled and have a safety sheet.

After receipt of the application, the competent authority notifies the applicant on the amount, method and deadline for payment of the fee. Fees are determined in items 2 and 3 of the Annex to the Decree implementing Regulations (EU) concerning the availability in the market and use of biocidal products.

Other activities

The permit holder is obliged to lodge an application for the prolongation of the permit with the competent authority at least 550 days prior to the expiry of the permit.
