The authorisation of the expert for protection against radiation for legal entities

The legal entity can obtain the authorisation of an expert on protection against radiation in individual areas of protection against radiation for: 

  • providing expert opinion on the implementation of the assessment of the protection of exposed workers against radiation, work conditions of exposed workers, the scope of implementing the measures of protection against radiation in the observed and controlled areas, verifying the efficiency of those measures, regular calibration of the measurement equipment and verifying the usability of protection equipment, if at least one person is employed who has acquired the authorisation of the expert for protection against radiation as a natural entity;
  • the implementation of supervisory measurements on controlled and observed areas: inspections of sources of radiation and personal protection equipment if:
  • at least one person is employed who has acquired the authorisation of the expert for protection against radiation as a natural entity and
  • has been accredited for the implementation of measuring the speeds of doses of ionising radiation according to the SIST EN 45004 or SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard and
  • has been accredited for inspecting the sources of radiation with appropriate measurement methods according to the SIST EN 45004 or SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard and/or
  • has been accredited for the implementation of measurements of radioactive contamination with appropriate measurement methods according to the SIST EN 45004 or SIST EN ISO/IEC17025 standard; 
  • implementing the training of workers, interns, students, responsible persons for the protection against radiation and workers in organisation units for protection against radiation if:
  • if at least one person is employed who has acquired the authorisation of the expert for protection against radiation as a natural entity;
  • it they ensure that at least half of the programme is implemented by lecturers who have acquired the authorisation of the expert for protection against radiation as a natural entity;
  • have introduced the training programme which is in accordance with the framework programme and was confirmed by the ministry competent for health together with the list of lecturers;
  • if they ensure premises and the necessary equipment for the implementation of training and
  • have a quality system in training in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001 which is proven by the certificate of compliance.

The areas of protection against radiation are: 

  • activities in health care and veterinary practice, where devices with ionising radiation (radiation) as the consequence of acceleration of particles (x-ray devices, particle accelerators) are used;
  • activity in health care and veterinary practice where sealed and unsealed sources of radiation are use;
  • individual activities outside health care and veterinary practice determined in the authorisation.

For acquiring an authorisation, the legal entity must submit the application at the ministry competent for health.

The application must contain: 

  • an indication of the area of protection against radiation;
  • the indication of the scope of authorisation and
  • evidence on fulfilling the conditions.
