Authorisation for the provider of dosimetry services

A legal entity can acquire the authorisation for the provider of dosimetry services for one or several following fields of work: 

  • establishing the exposure to external irradiation and providing expert opinion that based on the measurements and/or calculations if:
  • there is at least one responsible expert for dosimetry employed for full time, who fulfils the prescribed conditions which is proven with professional references in the field of external dosimetry and
  • is accredited for implementing measurements of external doses of ionising radiation with passive dosimeters according to the SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard;
  • establishing the exposure to internal irradiation at working with unsealed sources and providing expert opinion based on measurements and/or calculations if:
  • there is here is at least one responsible expert for dosimetry employed for full time, who fulfils the prescribed conditions which is proven with professional references in the field of internal dosimetry and
  • is accredited for implementing measurements of radioactive contamination according to the SIST EN 45004 or SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard and/or
  • is accredited according to the SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard for measuring complete radioactivity in the body or critical organs and/or
  • is accredited according to the SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard for implementing measurements of concentration of individual radionuclide in biological samples;
  • establishing exposure to radon and thoron and providing expert opinion that base on measurements and/or calculations if:
  • there is at least one responsible expert for dosimetry employed for full time, who fulfils the prescribed conditions which is proven with professional references in the field of dosimetry at establishing exposure to radon and thoron, and
  • is accredited for implementing measurements of concentration of radon, thoron and their derivatives in the air according to the SIST EN 45004 or SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard. 

The assessment of dose and expert opinion can be submitted by a legal entity who acquired the authorisation under the previous paragraph if the measurements were performed by another laboratory, accredited for a suitable area of work according to the standard as required in the previous paragraph.

For acquiring an authorisation for the provision of dosimetry services, the legal entity must submit the application at the ministry competent for health.

The application must contain the indication of the field of work and the evidence on fulfilling the prescribed conditions.
